Firefox is "not responding" and hanging up VERY frequently. This is happening nearly every 10-15 seconds. Firefox will pause, not allowing me to type, click, or do anything, for anywhere between 5-15 seconds. Then it will be fine, and then pause again. It actually causes my entire system to slow and/or lock up as well.

Firefox 8.0 Windows 7 -- 64bit

This is something with many possible causes, (so anyone else reading this -if you have a problem it is probably best to start your own thread rather than ask a question in this one).

Please have a look at the article

Try to follow some of the suggestions in that and post back with how you get on. One of the basic things you should do is to try safe mode

  • do not make changes initially in the first Window, just click on continue
  • use only the default theme
  • if problems persist, then whilst in safe mode also disable all plugins
  • see also troubleshooting extensions and themes

It is a special day- Sumo Day on the help forum Today, with any luck there will be a lot of people around to offer further advice.

Well, this problem is an old problem on Firefox!Until now its FF8 still the same as the crappy old FF4.But luckily,I have found great tested solution for you!Because I use it too! Here it is!

It is what FF called f2ox Lite. After installing the extension from FF extensions, you simply click your Add ons Manager by clicking add ons on the firefox bar(if you uncheck your menu bar). When you find f2ox there, click options then go to presets.choose optimize to optimize it for better results. It might work friend if you just try it :)))))

Restarted in safe mode. Same issue. Browser locks up in about 10 seconds. This is from a clean install. Looks like FF8 is DOA.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
