I use to have a "volume" icon at the bottom right of my laptop. I could turn it as high or as low as I wanted. Now, the icon is gone, and when I play a u-tube or open up my email that requires sound, there is no sound.

Right click in the task bar near the time display and you will get a pop up menu then click in properties then under system icons to always show, check volume and click Apply.
