How can I move the new tab button back next to the rightmost tab instead of being at the right side of the tab bar?

I used to be able to open a new tab with the "+" button just to the right of the rightmost tab. Now the "+" is at the far right side of the tab bar. Can I move it back?

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"

See if you drag that button to the toolbar palette and then drag it back to the tab bar will make it go back to that other position.
Close the customize window to check the position of the new tab button.
If that didn't work then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

Thanks, but neither works for me. If I "Restore Default Set" nothing happens. If I drag it back into the palette and then back to the toolbar, I can only get it to stick at the far left or far right of the toolbar -- not next to the rightmost tab.
