I use bird's eye view on the houses I am looking at to decide if the yards are good enough. I rotate the views 4 directions. I enlarged the views to see well. I did this for several months. Now I get an icon with a slash across it and cannot see an enlarged view or a rotated view. It worked well until a few weeks ago. Nothing I have tried has worked to bring it back. The users group will not help me because it is only for govt workers. I have gotten several updates or new versions of firefox since the view stopped working.

Hi,

Please try a Ctrl + F5 refresh of the page. This loads the content afresh. If the problem persists, please check in Safe Mode

I did not uninstall but tried control+f5, safe mode, checked extensions, took off hardware accel, had only one theme, disabled all extensions. Still get icon of camera with slash to not use, cannot get rotation as before, cannot get enlarged view of house and yard.

I think it is one of the newer Firefox versions that is not compatible with pictometry birdseye.

Thanks for trying.

Seems to be okay on Firefox 10.0.2. You can try to clear the cookies and cache: Ctrl + Shift + Del, choose Everything in Time range to clear and Cookies and Cache under Details. Clear History.

Please also check if Load images automatically is enabled (tick) in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Content and also delete any sites inside Exceptions on the right. Options > Content

I cleared the history, kept cookies and active logins.

Load auto was already checked. Javascript was already checked for move, disable, was unchecked for raise. I changed nothing.

The view still does not work. Thanks for trying to help.

You may have to delete the cookies and cache and also check the Exceptions button. An easy way would be to try a new profile.

In the Windows Start menu Run box, type firefox -p -no-remote, press OK, click Create Profile, Next, Finish, Start Firefox and browse the site.

I tried new profile - no difference. Lousy map still doesn't want to work. I am glad I saw the maps earlier when they were visible. Lousy camera icon. The whole mapping system looks different too, so I suspect Pictometric no longer works with Firefox. Too many cooks. Thanks for trying.

No problem with the Bird View as well here on Linux with Firefox 10.0.2

Did you try Save mode without making any changes on the safe mode start window?

There may have been extensions installed in the new profile.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Does it have features to block JavaScript ?

I use Viper as firewall and anti virus. I have used it for many months. The birds eye view problem is a few weeks old now. When using the old profile, I had shut all off - no help. I started with add ons disabled - no help. I think it is the combo of windows xp and pictometry. What else could it be? Where does that lousy camera icon come from?

I set up the new profile, got no improvement, then finally deleted it. Thanks for responding.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

I get these icons.

Please also check the settings in Vipre. You may have to check web blocking, script blocking, referrer blocking and also fully trust Firefox and child components. Vipre Features

I went to firewall, deleted 2 rules for firefox - no change - no ask for new rule. Have web site blocking for some sites - see nothing here related. See nothing for the other types of blocking, even if Viper says they have it. I give up. I am going to ruin this computer with all the changes I have made and am not sure what I have put back yet. Getting too messy for me - trial and error is dangerous. I am stopping. Thanks anyway.

Please be assured that changes made in Firefox wouldn't affect the computer or the OS or any other programs. You can be fairly certain about it, if the OS is secured against malware and Firefox was downloaded from a legitimate site. To reset the changes in Firefox itself, you can always try the Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults: in the safe mode screen or create a new profile. As for the firewall, any changes made regarding Firefox would most likely only be in relation to Firefox and it's related files/processes and it's a very good thinking on your part that you did not change anything else in the firewall. Please do post the results when you find a solution. It would be very useful and helpful.

A very safe way to check without changing anything in the OS or other programs is the Windows Safe Mode with Networking. After quickly checking Firefox, you can restart the computer and it will start normally as always.
