Why do my forums no longer show read items as read after viewing the thread?

When I go to a forum the thread appears bold if there are unread items since my last visit. After viewing the thread and returning to the list the item used to change to non-bold signifying there are no unread items in the thread. Now it remains bold unless i leave the forum and then return.

Using the Back button to go back to the previous page may cause Firefox to display the previously cached version of that page without updating the visited link status.

You can try to open links in a new tab with a middle-click and close the tab to go back.

Are you opening those forum threads in a new tab, in the same tab or a new window?

I open the threads in the same tab.

Thanks for the input. This is a new behavior as this worked correctly in the past. I am using a new laptop now and cannot figure out why this worked in the past and not on my new laptop.

I've seen more posts from people that also have this issue with visited links while using the Back button, so this behavior may be a regression and caused by using the cache more aggressively.

Does opening the link in a new tab work to show the visited state of links?
