Every time I reboot my computer, I lose Firefox. Safe mode window won't stay up, after a half hour or so, I usually find a way to open it, but what's causing it

When I reboot my computer, the Firefox icon is still sitting there, but will not open the program. I sometimes have luck opening from a link from another software program, but there is no logic. When I try to "Start/Run" firefox in safe mode, it still will not stay on the screen - just a brief flash. This is frustrating! This has been going on for at least a couple of months, help!

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software does have virtualization features that can cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox program folder and/or Firefox profile folder.

Thanks, that may be the problem ... I just have Windows Firewall, but have recently trialed Norton for about a month ... did not buy it, but it caused other issues with my computer, as well. I uninstalled it, but (for instance) my Flash kept crashing, etc.
