I can't get firefox to recognize the embed flash for windows 8. Is there a way to do this now will a future version of firefox have this ability if it is currently lacking. Basic I see that there is flash on my laptop and I.E. uses it.

I don't believe that is possible, as the version of Flash embeded in IE is an ActiveX version, you still have to install Flash for other browsers from Adobe.com

Like Tyler said, there are separate versions of Flash for Internet Explorer (Flash ActiveX) and for other browsers (Flash plugin). Firefox can't use the ActiveX version so you need to install it manually. This article should help with that:
