Rolling my mouse over the boxes that appear on BING home page does nothing, the search box does not allow me to hit the enter key and search, rolling mouse over any info does absolutely nothing. Running XP and Version 17 of BING.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

None of these options above worked. They did refresh BING homepage but I continue to have the same problems. Unable to do any scrolling on BING, use their drop down menus, or roll mouse over w/any kind of result.

Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

No results from deleting Firefox program, uninstalling and reinstalling. I REALLY do not want to create a new profile if I don't have to. Is their a chance I could back out of the 17.0.1 release? It was fine with the previous release? Or, better yet, will a new release fix this issue. I wonder why BING works on my computer using Internet Explorer...(But I don't wish to use IE).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

You can always use the Profile Manager to return to your previous profile, that is not possible if you use a reset to create a new profile.

Disabling RealDownloader 1.3.0 fixed it for me.

I was also wondering this and thanks for the solution.

I am late to the party so to speak but after doing some experimentation, the first solution that worked was an add-on called Fire IE. Like magic-if a site you are on isn't running right, hit the button and it switches that tab to IE compatible. I also just updated realplayer and no issues. Thanks for the answers and hope these also help
