In order to change the default search engine or the order of search engines in the top right search box in Firefox, please perform the following steps:

1. Move the mouse cursor inside the search box at the top right of the Firefox window and click the down arrow next to the provider's logo.
2. If you would like to select another search engine, simply pick the engine from the dropdown list.

In order to change the order of the search engines, do this:

1. From the dropdown list, select Manage Search Engines....
2. In the upcoming window, you have all your search engines listed. To change the order, simply click one search engine and then select Move up or Move down from the buttons on the right side in order to change the order of the search engines.

This does not help it at all. I did what has been mentioned but it was not removed. I am going to download any programs that will remove this toolbar and I will blog about the steps to remove it. This is seriously ridiculous. If I do not want your toolbar, do not bother me to use it!

Verify that the Search.us.com toolbar add-on is removed from Firefox (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-or-remove-add-ons). You can then edit Firefox's user.js file located in:

C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\wd69kojw.default\user.js

Like the Windows "YOUR_USERNAME" part, the "wd69kojw" part is unique to your installation of Firefox so it'll look similar, but the characters will be different. Remove the following lines (they are likely the only lines in user.js unless you are using Firefox in an enterprise environment) from the user.js file, and save your changes:

user_pref("browser.newtab.url", ""); user_pref("keyword.URL", "http://search.us.com/serp?guid={a bunch of letters & numbers}&action=default_search&k="); user_pref("browser.startup.homepage", "http://start.search.us.com?guid={more letters & numbers}"); user_pref("browser.startup.page", "1"); user_pref("browser.newtab.url", "file:///C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\TNT2\2.0.0.1234\pinnedSearch.htm");

You should then be able to enter about:config into Firefox's address bar to Reset its browser.startup.homepage, and keyword.URL Values.

Thank you for your help. I have spent around two hours in the morning trying to figure out how to remove it (after having the toolbar installed for 2 weeks).

I really don't have anything against you but you do not expect users to have a positive experience when you force them or to use something they don't want. And let me tell you something, the program that I downloaded did not give me any option to choose to install it or not, and I chose custom installation.

Anyway, this is my article I promised, I will add your steps so it will be beneficial for other users. I highly recommend changing the attitude of marketing this toolbar, it is a neat toolbar with nice search results but again, people don't like being forced.
