This only changed in the past couple days, I had not changed anything in terms of installations, extensions, etc...

Right now Tabs open with W (which used to open in a Window), and T deletes (which used to be New Tab)....but D also deletes, so that's odd...

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem. _________________________________________________________________________________

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I tried using FF in safe mode, but that did not resolve the issue :(

I am already in Default theme

And I would rather not wipe/format my Firefox by using Reset....

are there any other options?

Maybe a tool or extension exists to change they key-shortcuts for right-click options?

Which Firefox version are you using?

The user agent in the system details list suggests that you have a very old Firefox 3.6.2 version.

You can check for problems caused by a possibly corrupted user agent.

The shortcut for Open in New Tab has always been the "W" and the "T" is used for Cut and the "D" is used for Delete.
If this has been different then it has been changed by an extension that may not be working or installed anymore or otherwise lost its settings.

I am using 3.6.2 yes, because I have found that to be a version that I'm comfortable with and supports most any plugin I might need. My experience in the past when updating software, regardless of what it was, is that newer is NOT always better...

I do know, however, that I've always been able to right-click on a bookmark in the toolbar, hit T, and have a new Tab open up with it... Is that something you guys have heard about? I dont see any options/toggles for it in my TabMixPlus extension...

First, you NEED to update to Firefox 18, as Firefox 3.6.2 hasn't been updated in over two years. This means you are vulnerable to over TWO YEARS of security hole and vulnerabilities. Then try again and get back to us. Update Firefox to the latest release
