The error message suggests that I run 'chkdsk' utility, but something prevents this from runnning. I tried re-installing Firefox, but did not uninstall first. Is this the best approach ? AND .. Most important .. If uninstall, and re-install, Will I lose my bookmarks ?

Hello rickcanham, it is not important because it is a prefetch file, go from START > Run > type prefetch and delete the file (and if you want any file in the prefetch folder, actually do it from time to time it is where windows prefetches data when the system starts), then try to restart firefox.

If you select to unistall firefox do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

thank you
