I have done everything your web site says to do to uninstall Firefox. Nothing works. Windows message says no Mozilla Firefox uninstall program on my computer. Do I need a special download from you to uninstall?

Thank you, whiskeydog

This issue was raised back in April. I was able to resolve it by using Revo Uninstaller.

I sure would agree with that I liked the 18 which is what we that have extensions like but oh no we can't have a new one that likes what we had on our system before that would be too easy an when your not a computer geek you spend hours trying to find a way to make your extensions work. I have about had it with firefox might as well go back to ie as my extensions won't work in chrome either. An the part that makes me mad is no simple uninstall its like oh boy you tried us an now we are lke a tic that wants to suck the blood out of you.

schnapsp,
Sorry you are having problems.

Note I have and often do run many different versions of Firefox. Earlier this week testing a video link I had four different versions open and running simultaneously.

If you want to discuss your problems; apparently

  • compatibility of extensions or firefox customisations
  • a desire to run an unsecure unsupported version of Firefox
  1. Please start your own thread using /questions/new
  2. If you wish post back here once you have done that so we may find your question.

I am not going to go off subject and try to help you when the question is in someone else's solved thread especially as it is a different subject. (It is against forum guidelines but you may post a short comment back here to say you started a thread, so anyone so wishing may find it.)

Back on to the topic of uninstalling Firefox. As already mentioned in this thread

  • Uninstall instructions are in this article:
    Uninstall Firefox from your computer
  • Firefox does not have a specific uninstaller option. (In fact Windows versions have an unseen uninstaler Wizard normally run from the Windows control panel {appwiz.cpl) )
  • On Windows use the control panel to uninstall Firefox. That is the usual method of uninstalling nearly all programs on Windows
  • Like many programs it deliberately leaves behind some things (e.g.the user settings ) In a desire to help those wishing to use Firefox again after a reinstalling.
  • Some users will try uninstalling Firefox to solve problems, but would be more successful using other methods, so anyone wishing to uninstall please start your own thread and remember to say why you are trying to uninstall.
  • Remember security related software could try to prevent browser removal. Or the opposite issue is corruption or malware is causing the problem.

John I have tried a system restore to go back to say July before firefox releasedd their newest version but it will not let me go back that far. It tells me that it failed everytime.

As I said please start your own thread, and post back to confirm you have done that. I am not going to break forum guidlines and answer a separate question in this thread.

But general notes

  • As a last resort I personally will consider helping you to install Firefox18 once you realise the risks. However whatever your problems they should be solvable on Firefox 23.0.1 the current Release and you should try that first.
  • Windows rollbacks are not usually a good idea IMHO, they can change or loose all sorts of things depending on how far back you need tog.
  • Old versions are unsuported and insecure. They increase risks to your system and personal information. You would be better using another browser rather than an unsupported Firefox.
