how come i can only search things in the address bar

when i open up the browser and i put in something to search i hit enter or i use the mouse to hit search and it will not do anything but if i go to the top of the page and type in what im looking for in the tool bar it will come up so my question is why cant i search in the search box in the middle of the screen

Hi yolandag,

Can You see any search engines Logo in the search box. By default it will be Google.

Click on the logo, then You will get a dropdown list. Now click on Manage Search Engines Button. If You made any changes there, You can revert the changes to its default, by clicking Restore Defaults Button.

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
