When logging into my Bank's on line banking, you must first enter a user Id. Then it takes you to a window where you have created a visual and "sound" password which it plays to verify that you are in the banks site. Then you enter another password and then you are in. I still can get into the site, but it's just a little strange that the sound was working and now does not. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I was using chrome to enter the site and it directed me to ad on needed to play the sound which had Fire Fox's name on it. I down loaded this ad on and it did not work on chrome. I don't know if this affected FF?

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Is there a plugin used to play this sound or is this done via an audio tag and the built-in media player?

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
