Can we expect any future release of Firefox to accept java 7 plugin?

Firefox keeps saying "A plugin is needed to display this content".

I've installed / uninstalled / re-installed java 7, but Firefox simply won't recognize it.

IE, Chrome and Safari work fine. Only Firefox is giving this issue.

Hi Waka and thanks for your reply.

I've already tried both options before posting the issue: didn't work.

Do you have the plugin enabled, or activated? maybe its even caused by an outdated version. Have you checked your plugins?

or tried in a new profile?

Just tried. Same issue.

If this helps: I'm trying to run an Oracle Forms on Firefox.

Forms Services call java plugin.

My java plugins are up to date:

   Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.250.17 / status: 10.25.2.17
   Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U25 / status: 10.25.2.17

Thanks.

I also tried clearing the java cached as indicated.

Same issue only with Firefox when I run Oracle Forms applications: A plugin is needed to display this content.

It is possible that there is a JavaScript running on that page that isn't working properly.

You can try basic steps like these:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
