Firefox should automatically use a http connection if you specify the full URL.
If that doesn't happen then you might have visited the website via a secure connection before or you have an extension that automatically tries to switch to a secure connection.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
