I bought a new computer that runs windows 8. I installed firefox and starred having problem opening firefox. I uninstalled firefox and installed it. I still have the same problem. On the tab setting I do not allow but the main page to open. I have performed all the trouble guide that your web site offers and I still have the same problem. I would like a way to get firefox to work properly as it does on my windows 7 pc.

In case this is the problem I had with the protected mode feature of the Flash Player plugin, try disabling that. My thread: Flash hangs Firefox (eventually get script continue/stop dialog).

In Firefox, the plugin is named Shockwave Flash.

It is used by websites for a range of purposes from showing videos, to interactive menus, to full-blown applications, to surreptitious information gathering.
