Modified
Hi, about:config with colon : , see : http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config

Managed to get into settings using about:config,i then changed ipv6 to true but it's made no difference.

Just opened up FF and lo and behold google page opened,i opened and closed FF about a dozen times and it appears to be fixed, but i've no idea how.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

@FredMcD,I can assure you my laptop is malware free,i do regular Malwarebytes Pro and Avast IS full scans, and i also run other various malware tools.
Note that there are rootkits that elude the regular AV scanners, so you can still give other scanners a try.
- AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Removal-Tools/AdwCleaner.shtml - Kasperky Free Security Scan:
http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan
You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
- Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller:
http://support.kaspersky.com/5350?el=88446
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Thanks for links, but like i said in my previous post i do regular scans with various virus removel tools. Apart from running MBAM Pro and Avast IS i also have bookmarked "Virus removel tools"from bleeping computer so i always use the latest versions. This google glitch that i had with FF 27.0 has to have been some sort network communication error and not malware which has self rectified itself. I do notice every time i run AdwCleaner it runs clean apart from always finding this FF file to be removed which i always do.Is this normal? This is the file it finds "[ File : C:\Users\Neil\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\9zhrf1mc.default-1387121204892\prefs.js ]" Also JRT scan finds the same.
Modified
prefs.js stores some user settings. Mine is always marking them.
