HI -- last night, shortly after (not sure how long exactly) having installed Silverlight - direct from the amazon prime video site, a strange white bar with a blue ringed circle appeared above my tabs in the browser. I don't think it appeared directly after installing Silverlight, but some time afterwards - during which I was on and off my computer - it 'appeared'.....

Here's a pic: http://imgur.com/WezuIoV

And one in private browsing mode, which shows something, but I don't know what.... http://imgur.com/MlhJKbt

I tried disabling the silverlight plug in - nothing; I tried playing aroung with toolbar settings - nothing; then I restarted with Add-ons disabled (from the help menu) and it disappeared. But then when I restared in the normal mode - it was still there.... Do I have to reset (which which probably make it dissapear, but I want to know what's caused it)? Do I have some sort of bug? Should I be worried, virus (maybe this is excessive; i'm on a mac, but...)?

Thanks for any help

I came across this exact issue as well the other day. It turned out not to be any of my extensions causing this, but instead it was a theme called "Default Mod" (which was updated on Feb 27th to version 28). I downgraded back to version 27.1 and the blue circle went away.

EDIT: Looking at your screenshot, it seems you use Default Mod theme as well, so this is most likely the issue.

If the problem does not happen in Safe Mode, it is most likely because of an extension, theme or hardware acceleration.

Also this can be occuring because the localstore is corrupted, first unhide the hidden files and folder:

Then close Firefox and go to your profile and delete the localstore.rdf:

so I reset firefox, and the weird bar and blue circle have disappeared (spelling mistakes don't though...) but if anyone has any idea what could have caused it in the first place - i can't even say whether silverlight was at the root of it - t'would be good. I did search online and browse through the forums in case someone had posted a similar case, but it seems not. just a little bug that played with the browser appearance....?
