Why does the browser retain my history even after I've cleared it?

I went under settings> privacy> clear private data, made sure browsing history was checked along with everything else, and tapped to clear it. I get the status message that private data was cleared, yet upon restarting the browser its still there.

Make sure you have not tampered with the Android developer setting, 'Don't Keep Activities'. If so, that Android developer setting is dangerous and it should be disabled.

There's a bug on file where this is behaviour can have dangerous affects on the browser such as not clearing private data.
