I opened my thunderbird firefox email this am. I have three different accounts. Two of them were fine. The third one which is the most important one (i.e. with most of my folders) was empty except for inbox, sent, trash, junk and drafts. All my folders disappeared. I have automatic download email, compacting. Is there anyway of finding these folders on my computer? Have they really disappeared? I have windows 7 professional (version 6.1) and for thunderbird I have version 24.4.

Press Alt or F10 to restore the menu bar in case it's hidden.

Help - Troubleshooting Information - Profile Directory - Open Directory

This will open your profile directory in Windows Explorer. Look underneath Mail (in case of a POP account) or ImapMail (in case of an IMAP account) for a folder matching your account name.

Underneath that should be a number of files without a file extension, e.g. Inbox, or Sent. Those files are the ones containing the mail.

What files do you have, and what size do they have?
