Firefox crashing randomly how can I fix this?
I have already tried restart in safe mode but it still crashes. Installing another profile is not really an option because of my fast dial its not something I can backup and keep the settings. I have the crash reports... I am using Firefox 29 RC1. I already went back to 28.0 final not beta and its still crashing. This just started as you can tell.

Glad to know it is working again.
Apparently development & maintenance of FastDial has been suspended. No doubt you will be able to find a similar extension or use a slightly different workflow.
As for the Flash Player problem. It is usually best keep the latest version of FlashPlayer. The FlashPlayer support site itself may be able to shed light on your problem. Disabling Adobe's Protected Mode is relatively simple and easy to do by editing a config file and may be worth a try. If the change does not help it is reversed in a similar manner.
Something else to consider is testing with hardware acceleration disabled and possibly updating or even rolling back graphics driver updates.

Firefox's safe mode is intended only as a troubleshooting step not as a permanent method of operating Firefox. Similarly a new profile may be quickly and easily created just to be used as an additional profile for troubleshooting purposes.
- Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
- Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles
(Good practice to use default suggested locations, and not rename or delete profiles once created.)
The crash is likely to be caused by one of your plugins so I suggest first of all finding which one. Please try Firefox in safemode and in a new profile with all plugins disabled. Re-enable one at a time and finally run in that configuration with just the single plugin enabled.
Please paste the new Crash ID into your next post. Hopefully you will be able to confirm that it only crashes when one specific plugin is used.
Additionally if you think a change in Firefox may have caused this try in the current Release version Fx28. Do that soon as it will upgrade in a few days time. Note it is possible to install two versions of Firefox at the same time, but you should run them with separate profiles. You may wish to install the Release to use as the day-to-day browser whilst you have this problem, and leave the Beta version for testing.
Remember to temporarily turn off automatic upgrading on the Release.
Please post back with your findings.

After redoing the steps of making a new profile and I deleted all the old ones its now working again. However due to issues with videos freezing I have downgraded to Flash Player 11.7 for some reason anything higher than that makes firefox's cpu usage skyrocket making it unusable. The only issue I am facing now is that my Fast Dial plugin will not let me create new bookmarks for the fast dial page that I use when my browser loads up. The support for that has not been used in over 2 years so I figure i wont get an answer there.

This is a problem with version 29, which is obviously not ready for prime time. I'm getting sick of every new version breaking things or changing the defaults. Is this program for the users or for the personal use of someone at Mozilla?
Telling people to start over, getting rid of all their preferences, is NOT an adequate solution when everything worked with the previous version. I don't want to be starting over every couple of months.
I've been patient with all the previous arbitrary modifications, but I think my patience is finally at an end.

Please do not downgrade to unsuported insecure versions of Firefox
Not updating Firefox is usually considered bad practice.
- Please see the article Install an older version of Firefox
That includes the links you need for old versions. - And glance at https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
Once a new Released out and security fixes are made and publicised bad guys take advantage of the exploits and that puts your System and Personal Data at an increased risk.
Those with strong reasons for using an insecure version and understanding the risks may take appropriate steps to mitigate the risk. Possibly using a Virtual Machine, maybe having a well rehearsed bare metal restore procedure.
Perhaps if you say why you do not wish to upgrade we may be able to suggest a suitable way forward with an upgrade and some sort of workaround. Or are you talking as an administrator of a network of Computers, in which case a special Release of Firefox may be more appropriate. If the problem relates to Firefox 29 these articles may help
- Learn more about the design of the new Firefox version 29
- What happened to the Add-on Bar?
- How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox
It may also be worth noting that Fx29 now respects the setting to not upgrade until you agree. Firefox 28 upgraded regardless of the setting if you used the about dialogue to check the version.
Actually, I believe the problem is 29.0.1 since the crashes have only been going on for a few days. I've reverted to 29.0.
In addition, the update facility does not work as advertised. "Check for updates but let me choose whether to install them" installs them without asking. I have had to turn updates off to save myself from further inconvenience.

The updates problem was solved by a fix in Firefox 29. Firefox 28 will update if you Check the Version using about firefox, Firefox will not update without your permission in those circumstances.
Modified
Back to 29.0 and the crashes have stopped as abruptly as they started. 29.01 should be consigned to the trash heap.

If you have problems with crashes please start your own thread and provide details and the CrashID. What makes you think your Crashes have anything to do with this users crashes ?
This user (nickm25) had some problem resolved by changing the profile, have you tried creating a new additional test profile to see if that helps you. maybe you did that when you reinstalled.
I will close this solved thread.
Please do not confuse troubleshooting steps with solutions. Firefox highly customisable but some times those changes could be part of the problem, or at least make the problem harder to identify and solve.
There were only a few changes between Firefox 29.0 and Fx29.0.1 and if these cause crashes it is something we on the support forum would like to investigate if you want to help us.
Firefox 29 was tested but it did contain something like 4000 changes some of these are bound to cause problems at least in some circumstances.
If you consider Firefox Releases need more testing an important part of that is testing in the real world by real users, and anyone can do that on Nightly, Aurora or Beta channels.
- See http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#beta/beta-desktop
- You can simply use Beta instead of Firefox Release, and if you run into problem, report them and go back to the working Release
- Or as one of the more more advanced users and a problem solver yourself install Beta &/or the other pre Release versions as additional custom installs see
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions#Installing_multiple_versions
