The large firefox icon on the home page turns into a shooting gallery. How can I change this back to the large icon?

When Firefox starts I get the google home page. At first there is the big orange Firefox icon but it quickly changes to a shooting gallery where a small firefox icon is shooting at arrows, stars and houses (the icons in the top toolbar). Why is this happening and can I change it back to the big round Firefox icon?

Sometimes Mozilla.org changes the display. After a time they change it back. Check out about:blank.
