3.3 Lightening does not install on TB 31
I installed TBird 31.1.1 and it works fine. I also have FireFox installed and it works fine. I am on Windows 8.1 using a Lenovo C-260 Desk Top All-in-one computer.
I am now trying to add the Lightening calendar. I tried to follow the instructions but do not know how to "back up the ICS file" (perhaps that is done automatically in my daily backup of my data?) and I do not know how to uninstall the "Calendar Extension" before installing Lightening. I did a download of Lightening 3.3.1 (without doing the above). The download finished successfully. But, in step #1 of the Installation instructions, when I get to click on "Extension Manager" I get the message that there is nothing there (I expected to see Lightening there, but it was empty). What am I doing wrong? What do I have to do to get Lightening installed
Chosen solution
Where are you reading these instructions? They seem a bit garbled to me.
Go to Tools|Add-ons
Type Lightning (note the correct spelling!) into the search box.
Select it, click Install.

Thanks for a fast reply. What you suggested did, if fact, work. I was going a different route, ... I clicked on the Lightning (now spelled correctly, thanks to you) icon, and did a Download from there. It put "lightning-3.3.1-tb+sm-windows.xpi in my computer's Downloads folder. I could not figure out how to install from there. I got the install information off the Mozzilla website, ... I clicked on the Lightning icon and found it there. Thanks again for your help. Now I have to go and learn how to use Lightning. I hope it will allow me to send myself an email as a "Reminder". Have a great day. If all works as I expect it to, ... Lightning will be getting a Contribution from me. DickB
