yahoo somehow gained access and changed settings in my safari and firefox browsers, was unable to change default search engine settings for more than a minute, even removing yahoo engine would only last a minute, so i deleted firefox, re-downloaded, now my profile is missing...

I can't access profile manager via Terminal, I can't do anything, Firefox is non-operational at this point and I don't know how to fix it.

Chosen solution

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder is a hidden folder.

  • /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/profiles.ini

YES!! I love you, running Mavericks, wasn't even aware of the Go folder option, once I understood that I went directly to

/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/profiles.ini

deleted it, and starting fresh, thank you so much...

I wish i knew how I can prevent yahoo from taking over my browser (which is how my problems started)
