I just installed 33.0.3 and there are no 'forward' or 'back' buttons. There are no 'reload' buttons. There's no 'stop' button.

Where are all the buttons we used to be able to use to customize the bars on firefox?

Chosen solution

Are you trying to place the tools back individually? There is a button on the customization screen "Restore Defaults" - it will set the interface back to the way it should be. If it doesn't, you may want to check your add-ons for any suspicious extensions that may be causing your interface to be like that. --- You can reach your add-ons page by entering about:addons in the address bar, or going to Tools > Add-ons. If your menu bar is missing, you can press "Alt" to show it. --- I should also note that the "stop", "go", and "refresh" buttons all replace each other depending on the state of the web page you are on, so you may not see them until you load a web page/type in an address on your address bar.

Hello,

Do you at least have an address bar? You can enter about:customizing in it and press enter to reach the customization page.

Also make sure that you aren't running in Fullscreen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F). Please see Use Firefox in Full Screen mode for more information.

If the above don't help, check your localstore.rdf file in your profile folder. For more information:

Not in 'full screen mode'.

Have the address bar, and just saw the 'forward' and 'back' buttons, but still have no 'stop' button or a way to place an extra 'go' button on the other end of the address bar.

Thanks, CoryMH. This sort of answered my problem, but now that I know how those buttons I'm not seeing or able to have viewable constantly, I'll unfortunately have to go back to another browser until Mozilla puts them back. It's just that I prefered having that choice *myself*, not having it done for me. Not your fault and I sort of understand maybe why Mozilla has done it, but it's just not for me, a deal-breaker. I love how fast it is with this version though.

Let's mark this as 'solved' (I can't see where/how to do so on the site)

Thanks for your help. Take care and happy holidays to you and yours.

Is this icon still missing?

  • Menu: New Fx Menu

There have been no changes remove those important tools from your toolbar. Try renaming your localstore.rdf file (go to your Firefox profile folder, see Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data) while Firefox is closed to something else, such as localstore.old. When Firefox restarts it should recreate the file.

Yes, I've always had that 'menu' thing. It doesn't contain any 'stop', 'go', or 'back' 'forward' buttons.

I just now saw the 'stop' button. It's tiny and in a bad place and still cannot be moved/changed by me. *I* have no choice, which is a Bad Thing and goes against the open source/*nix way.

I've attached a snapshot so you can see I know where everything is now, but because *I* still have no choice with this version, it's still a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for your help though, I greatly appreciated it.

I haven't played around with this extension too much, but it does separate the address bar with the refresh/stop/go buttons, in addition to giving more flexibility with the interface:

Hopefully it won't be too difficult to get Firefox the way you want. Good luck.

That worked. Thanks, Cory!
