How can I centrally manage bookmarks for enterprise users

more options

We are deploying Firefox ESR in our organisation and would like to centrally manage bookmarks. The aim is to provide users with a pre-defined list of favourites (which they can add to) based on their office location. Ideally the solution should be native and not require any 3rd party extensions.

Create a file using the Netscape Bookmark File Format for each office, then direct your users to download their specific location's file to local disk and then import that file into their Firefox installation. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-html-file http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks.html http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa753582%28VS.85%29.aspx

It would be a lot easier if you could create one set of bookmarks for all installations in your organization and deploy it to all locations, for all offices, as part of the installation of Firefox. And maybe a separate folder of bookmarks for each location.

The other way of doing it "automatically" would be a separate installation package for each location; but that might become very time consuming to build if you have a lot of locations to service.

Hi Ed, thanks for the quick response one issue is that our environment is locked down and prevents user access to most of the browser features so we would like to do this programmatically so that there is no user interaction.
