When I turn off a page, I turn it off; I don't want it to appear again on my taskbar when I turn on my computer.
When I'm finished with a page I turn it off (with the red "X" in the upper right hand corner). Then I shut my computer down for the night. When I turn it back on in the morning those pages, that I have turned off, appear on my task bar. I don't want them to appear on my task bar. If I turned them off I don't want them back. If I do want to go back to them I will save them to my favorites list.
Thank you for your help.

Type about:preferences#general<Enter> in the address bar.
There are two settings;
- When Firefox Starts
When the browser is started, what do you want to display. Many of us choose Show My Home Page.
- Home Page
When a new page is opened, what do you want displayed.
- Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
- Use Bookmark
- Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.
You can use any of these that you wish;
about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),
or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac Then reinstall the latest version.
