When I go to help and about firefox, it tells me that firefox is up to date and shows ver 34.0. Why doesn't it update to ver 34.05?

When I go to help and about firefox, it tells me that firefox is up to date and shows ver 34.0. Why doesn't it update to ver 34.05?

Chosen solution

Google is no longer the default search engine in en-US Firefox as of Firefox 34.

marv6, Again the 34.0.5 is Not a update for Fx 34 as a proper update for 34.0 if there was one would actually be 34.0.1 as it would not jump to 34.0.5. In fact the Android version of Firefox 34.0 had a update to 34.0.1 but not desktop Firefox.

As said the 34.0 and 34.0.5 are essentially the same Release (Both Released on same day Dec 1st). It was a way Mozilla decided on differentiating the two same Releases on the one tiny difference.

They initially thought of using 34.1.0 for the Yahoo as default (in en-US) but it would both make people think it was a new Release (when it was not) and potentially cause extension compatibility issues.

There is no need to update 34.0.5 if you have 34.0 so ignore the above suggestion by bablushaw23 and your urge to have 34.0.5 when it is the same.

The only difference in the Release notes is that it mentions Yahoo as default in en-US 34.0.5 on top of notes. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/34.0/releasenotes/ https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/34.0.5/releasenotes/

The only difference between Firefox 34.0 and 34.0.5 is that the latter sets the default search engine to Yahoo! if you are in the US time zone and haven't changed the default search engine.

Forget about that and download the latest. Go here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
