Question above states it all. I reinstalled Yahoo toolbar. No help. I do have the Yahoo toolbar but all my customizing is gone on it. I can't right click on toolbar to add stuff. I made the mistake of updating to Fox 36 on three different computers. They are all the same now. Lost toolbar. Did not update friends computer and it is OK with showing all the customization on Yahoo toolbar. (35.0) I need to go back to Fox 35. After update to 36.0, there was another update but it didn't help. Thanks

Chosen solution

Firefox 36 is still in beta, and beta software doesn't always work with extensions. You can download and install Firefox release by going to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ and downloading the proper language and operating system build.

Edit & Update Firefox 36 was Released 24th Feb and is no longer a Beta. There is a post suggesting Yahoo has stated there are known issues with the toolbar, and that Yahoo is working to Fix this.

jbees,

Sorry that you are having a problem with that Yahoo Toolbar extension in Firefox 36, but your attitude and those silly questions do nothing to solve your problem. Tyler Downer posted the "official statement" from Mozilla, as one of the few contributors around here who works for Mozilla. The rest of us are other Firefox users who volunteer our time to help other users; and surely we deserve better than your attitude provided.

The bottom line is that the Yahoo Toolbar add-on needed to be updated for Firefox 36; which it was by Yahoo on or around Feb 19th.

The latest version from here seems to work fine in Firefox 36. https://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/

I inspected the internal specs for "updates" inside that extension install/rdf file, and it is pointed toward a Yahoo website for obtaining automatic updates - which occurred on 2/19 as jscher2000 pointed out. https://us.data.toolbar.yahoo.com/dl/toolbar//yhoo/v1/yhoo/update.rdf As to why you didn't receive the automatic update, you might want to make sure that Automatic Updates are enabled for that extension, or if you disabled Updates for that one extension or globally (for all extensions).

You should be able to right-click that extension in the Add-ons Manager and use Check for Updates to do a manual update. Or you can just install that extension from the Yahoo page that was hyperlinked by jscher2000 and myself. Or fix the pref for Automatic Updates in the AOM.

Like someone else, I tried the Yahoo toolbar update and got a notice that it could not be done because of a connection failure. Someone keeps posting that Firefox 36 is a Beta version. Under "About Firefox" it says nothing about a Beta program, what it says is Firefox 36.0 is up to date!

This thread was started over a month ago when Firefox 36 was in Beta - until this past Tuesday (Feb 24) when it was Released.

If the Yahoo Toolbar won't update because of a "connection failure" at Yahoo, just install the new version from here. https://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/

The problem people are having is when they try to update ,they get a connection failure on us.toolbar.yahoo.com. Any workarounds on that problem ?

Found my own workaround. For people having the connection failure, here's what worked for me. Go to add- ons. Beneath the Yahoo Toolbar description ,click on the blue "more". Now scroll down to automatic updates. Change from default to on. I was now able to download ( no more connection failure ). Hope this works for you.

Thanks Dawags, but still no luck--firefox freezes up.

If you are using the older version from the Mozilla Add-ons site, try the one on the following page, which seems to indicate it was updated on Feb. 19th: https://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/ File name: yahootoolbar-3.2.10.20150219020417_intl-_sc-_pc-_dc-.xpi Could anyone who tries it report whether it works any better?

I have this version already installed and still hasn't fixed the issue.

It still doesn't work and that was the correct version I had already downloaded the other day. Still no bookmarks

I followed the steps for "Check for Updates" and still no change in my bookmarks appearing. I even tried to import my bookmarks again and still nothing. Thanks for the help.

I am having trouble finding a way to contact Yahoo to receive help? Does anyone else have this issue? I have tried all of their help issues but none of them deal with the bookmark issue.

I'm closing this thread since it was posted on Jan 21, 2015, when Firefox 36 was still in beta. The chosen solution (install the latest released version of Firefox) no longer applies.

Anyone having problems with the latest Firefox 36 release should ask a new question. See Mozilla Support rules and guidelines under Posting support requests: Do not re-use existing threads started by others, even if they are seemingly on the same subject. Ask a new question instead.

I will add that information to the chosen solution also.
