Since I upgraded to Firefox 35.0, the New York Times web site causes Firefox to run slowly.

The New York Times site is the only site to cause Firefox to experience this extreme slowness. Refreshing Firefox made no difference. To view the Times site without slowness, I've had to add the site to the JavaScript blacklist in YesScript 2.0, but this, of course, disables the site's many JavaScript features.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in the Flash player and disable protected mode in the Flash player
