After refreshing mozilla firefox and coming here for help another user noted that I had multiple Flash plugins listed below. Before refreshing I was updating only from mozilla firefox and Adobe. Obviously, things were NOT updating. I've managed to delete the outdated Flash plugins and Adobe Flash Player. I just want to know what the "most" up to date both the plugin and player are so that I know that I have the latest and am starting fresh. I'm doing the latest firefox update right now and am using Windows 7. Thanks! You people here are the best!

Note that your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.

   Shockwave Flash 14.0 r0
   Shockwave Flash 17.0 r0

The plugin for Firefox is named Shockwave Flash and the latest version is 17.0.0.188

When it installs, Flash defaults to self-updating, but if you need to update manually, you can use either of these pages:

jscher2000,

Thank you very much for the quick response! Since I am indeed using plugins and have uninstalled older plugins AND Adobe Flash Player, I assume that I should download from the second link you've provided? Would you happen to have a mozilla firefox link where I can download the plugin OR will that plugin be included in my initial download of Adobe Flash Player OR am I totally mixed up? Sorry that I'm such an amateur! I'm going through a slow process after having refreshed mozilla firefox without fully knowing what all would disappear so I'm trying to be very careful in downloading clean, new versions of things. Thanks again!

Hi fireside, Adobe makes an ActiveX control for IE and a plugin for plugin-based browsers. I don't think there is a stand-alone Flash player that doesn't work in one of your browsers.

The main difference between the two links is that the first detects your browser and offers a lightweight installer -- containing advertised extras if you don't uncheck them -- that downloads additional files when you run it. The second link is to a page that has "full" installers without unnecessary extras.

The Plugins that Firefox uses is not installed in Firefox but on system. Firefox finds and makes use of them which is also why you cannot uninstall in Firefox like you can with Extension/Themes.

Jscher2000 AND james,

Thank you very much for your help, information, patience, understanding and hanging with me as I seem to find a way for another question after your amazing replies. Silly me. Wish that I could choose everything you've both provided here as "Solved the problem!" Thanks again!

Jscher2000 OR james,

Iif you happen to stumble back in here.... I've posted the below question here with no response and another user was kind enough to guide me where to post this question elsewhere to get some answers and no replies there either. If you could suggest either one using the info that I've posted below? Thanks.

Flashblock OR Flashstopper better AND are they comparable with ease of use ? I recently refreshed my firefox and I'm wondering if Flashblock OR Flashstopper is better in peoples opinions? I was using Flashblock. Love it and simply disabled it if I actually wanted to watch videos. I see that Flashstopper ranks a little higher yet, I'm seeing more complaints within the reviews. Just really looking for a suggestion OR suggestions on which I should use? Thanks!

jscher2000,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. For whatever reason I didn't receive the initial info alert in my inbox email as I have with all the others?
