I use gmail IMAP in Thunderbird 38.1.0. When I receive a message with pdf attachment via my gmail account and forward that message via my gmail account to a non gmail address, the email is recognized as spam by the receiving mail server.

When I do the same with gmail webmail the email isn't seen as spam!

What may be the cause?

Sending via webmail is not the same as smtp.

logged on to webmail and sending is going direct from server. If using Thunderbird, you are sending via smtp, your email address, your IP address sends to server which is then sent on to the receiving server.

So it is possible that your IP address has been flagged as someone who sends spam mail by the recipient server.
