Why do I have to keep logging in to say Yahoo or Zynga when I have unchecked the boxes to delete the active logins?

I was having issues with the flash player when I play on Zynga so I have been clearing my history before closing down the browser. The other day I decided to go to options and change how it would clear my browser history and my logins, This was getting to much of a pain so I changed it back to save the history without clearing it and I would just use the clear history in the history option. I still have to put my log in information back in when I close the browser and bring it back up. Also, it wouldn't auto complete items that I use all the time, like my email address, which it used to do before the update of 40.0. How can I fix my problem?

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie. Active Logins are used by server that use basic authentication, FTP server are an example of this and thus do not apply to your case where likely cookies are involved.

You can remove the cookies from a website to make the website forget about you.

You can let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"

You can create a cookie 'allow' exception for cookies that you want to keep.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data. Clearing Cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.
