I have a desktop with windows 8.1 and mozilla firefox browser but am unable to access the firefox start page please give instructions
I'm using a desktop computer with windows 8.1 and have mozilla firefox browser. When using the browser firefox often crashes. In researching options to possibly fix this issue, instructions say to go to the firefox start page. I am unable to locate this page and would appreciate instructions on how to get there as well as any other suggestions to alleviate the crashing problem. I believe I have firefox version 30.

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with bp- & paste them here into a forum reply. this will give us a better understanding what may be triggering those crashes.
Thank you. The trouble is I cannot locate the location bar or the Mozilla firefox start box.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).
Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

You can check for problems with preferences. Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
Where do I find the fire fox profile?? Can you explain why I need to rename this file? I was just wanting to find the start box......
Do you have the Firefox user interface with at least the Navigation Toolbar and the Tab bar?
Can you attach a screenshot of how you see Firefox?

That looks a like problem with hardware acceleration (graphics display driver) in Firefox.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
