I used to have my settings so that if I opened a new tab, it would open a new Firefox home page. Since I updated Firefox, if I open a new tab, it is a blank page. How do I restore it to open my Firefox home page?

Chosen solution

Hi, in addition to the above, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

hi GuyDrumm, please use an addon like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/ for that.

In Firefox 41 the browser.newtab.url pref is gone. That pref was being hijacked by malware too frequently so Mozilla decided to remove that pref to eliminate that type of hijack.

You will need an extension to restore that preference. In addition to the two extensions already mentioned, the Classic Theme Restorer extension includes a new pref for changing the new tab URL to 3 different internal pages. And over the coming weeks I wouldn't be surprised to see more extensions having the new pref added, too.

It is not that the other two suggestions may not have been helpful; It is that I chose the solution given by "Scribe". I clicked on the link; And that was it!!! All is good again!  :-)
