I tried installing the previous version, but keep on getting the latest version.

I discovered that Norton ID Safe does not work in the latest version of Firefox (I also found out that it is a Symantec problem). I installed the previous version of Firefox and was so happy, my Norton ID Safe and Safe Search was back. I kept on getting notices asking to upgrade to the newer version. I would ignore and make sure I do not start the upgrade. Unfortunately, while I was not looking, Firefox installed the latest version .... I tried going back by installing the previous version, but it keeps on installing the newest version. Until Symantec fixes the problem, I would like to use the previous version. I have Internet Explorer, which I don't particularly like, I prefer Firefox. Any idea how I can temporary fix the Symantec problem. Thanks. Blenda.

Chosen solution

Hi

This is an issue caused by Symantec not getting an update out fast enough. They have said that an update is due by the end of October, so hopefully it is due soon.

I would always recommend you use the most recent and and up to date version of Firefox. This ensures you get the new features plus any stability and security fixes.

If, on installing an older version, you want to stop Firefox from updating, type about:preferences#advanced in the address bar and click on Update. Here you will find the options to turn off updates, though as mentioned, this is not recommended.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
