I do not know why. Usually I download firefox and it works right away. But something seems to have hit my machine and some files got deleted. I don't know why firefox won't open after downloading. I appreciate your help.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

What security software do you have?

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing problems. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

it seems to be in windows registry information as the files are not being configured or found. Not sure what happened. Not a good day to say the least. Maybe windows will update for me or things will go better soon. Appreciate the answer, but don't know how to get firefox to run and man, I sure do miss it for this old computer.
