If I install Thunderbird Version 45.1.0 will this break my Lightning integration?

more options

The last couple of updates have broken the Lightning integration. I was fortunate that I did not loose anything in my Calendar after reinstalling the Lightning integration but I don't want to take unnecessary risks.

Chosen solution

If Lightning stopped after you upgraded Thunderbird it is because you did not upgrade lightning at the same time. Both lightning and thunderbird separates the program from the data so reinstalling should not affect data. But as always with computers backups are a good idea.
