I want the mouse wheel to move one full page, and the arrows to move much less

The minor usability issues are making me nuts, and hold off on a full switch on all machines to FireFox.

At first, the scroll wheel only would advance the page a very short distance. I "fixed" this by changing mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount to 350.

But now the arrow keys give slightly more than a full page scroll in FaceBook instead of just a very few lines. They work ok elsewhere including here.

So how can I : 1) Set the wheel scroll to one full page or slightly less? 2) Utilize the arrow keys to scroll up and down only a few lines at once?

BTW - SeaMonkey does these things just fine on the same machine

Multiple machines await your answer.

Thanks!

does this happen in stuff like chrome.exe or IE or notepad?

In Chromium it's the same as FireFox before I fixed it with the wheel adjustment.

It is different in gedit - wheel scrolls about 5 lines, page down gives a bit more than full page, arrow gives one line.

Again, works right in SeaMonkey - wheel give just a bit less than a full page, page down gives full page, arrow gives about 3 lines.

the following page describes the possible customizations of scrolling parameters that you can do in firefox in the about:config panel: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Gecko:Mouse_Wheel_Scrolling

1) All these functions are fine by default in the Vista OS.

2) All these functions are fine by default in the Dell Windoze 10 notebook.

I'll need to get back to the other location to check the Windoze 10 desktop and the Ubuntu 14.04 laptop.

I also need to be back there to utilize the scroll references you provided for the problems in the Ubuntu 14.04 desktop.

Thanks!

I'm getting big confusion here in 46.0.1 in Ubuntu.

- I've got scrolling by mouse wheel working as I want it on normal pages like Facebook, Google result pages, etc. (one click = one page) However, in, for lack of a better name, "list" pages, like my webmail AOL pages or the about:config pages, the scrolling is too short. On the webmail page, it's two lines only. On about:config, it's three lines.

The keyboard keys are much more goofy. - Arrow keys - -Facebook, etc. - As I want them at 3 lines - -"List" pages - OK at one line at a time

- Page up/down - - fine at one page on Facebook, Google results, etc. - -"List" pages - First key press (either one) gets me zero or one line, depending on what test page I'm using. Second gets about one page, third = 1 page, Fourth = zero to one line, fifth = one page, sixth = 1 page, seventh = 1 line, and so on. - - On the "List" pages only, on the times when full page movement happens, it moves about the full page, and then jumps another couple lines or so down.

Also, page up won't work multiple times (repeat) when it's held down for several pages worth.

How can I exorcise the spooks from this stuff ?!?
