I cannot send or receive emails with my Yahoo account and get a "Login to server imap.mail.yahoo.com failed" message when I try.

Yesterday afternoon, Thunderbird 45.4.0 stopped sending or receiving emails from my Yahoo account. I had made no changes to my system prior to the problem. I can login to the account just fine by accessing Yahoo mail via FireFox. I have tried changing the password and have checked and reentered the imap settings, but I can't get it to work. I have had no problem with emails from an Earthlink account. Any thoughts on what is causing the problem and what should I do?

I didn't have the the 2-step authentication enabled and after I allowed apps that use less secure sign in it seems to work now.

Thank you for your help.

Do you have 2-step authentication enabled for Yahoo? See https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN5013.html

If not, allow apps that use less secure sign in. See https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN27791.html
