Where in the world is the bookmarks button?
I'm very new to Firefox Android, and I want to import my bookmarks from my generic Android browser into Firefox. But I can't for the life of me locate the Bookmarks Button or the Bookmarks Library in order to start importing my old bookmarks from a HTML flle.
Where are the Bookmark Button and the Bookmarks Library hiding? And what secret magic trick reveals them?

Welcome to Firefox for Android. ;)
The article you referred to describes how to import bookmarks on Firefox for Desktop, which is different from Firefox for Android, hence the reference to the Bookmark Button and the Bookmarks Library. If you read this article, you'll see that importing bookmarks in Firefox for Android was previously available but removed for Android 6 (and Firefox 41+) for technical reasons.
Things you could try:
- Uninstall the current Firefox for Android version, install version 40 from here, import the bookmarks from the stock browser directly and let Firefox update itself. This will only work if your phone still runs Android 5, and I can’t guarantee the bookmarks will be kept when upgrading Firefox to the current version.
- Import the Android bookmarks from the HTML file to Firefox for Desktop, set up Sync on both Firefoxes as suggested and use Sync to synchronize them with Firefox for Android. If you only want to use the stock Android browser’s bookmarks to be imported into Firefox on Android and make this a one-time action, make sure to either temporarily put aside existing bookmarks in Firefox for Desktop (the places.sqlite file in the profile folder), or to create a new profile for that purpose to only import those bookmarks.

You can only import bookmarks from your desktop Firefox by using Firefox Sync.
There is a bookmark button under Menu (the star), to the left of the refresh button, but it'll only let you add/remove the current page.
I am not trying to import bookmarks from the desktop version of Firefox but from an HTML file containing bookmarks from my generic Samsung Android browser. There are step by step instructions to do this in a Mozilla help file, but it involves using the Bookmarks Button and the Bookmarks library in the Android version of Firefox, and I can't find either. s

There are fairly clear lnstuctions of how to do this on Mozilla's website, but they involve using the Bookmarks Button and the Bookmarks library, and I can't locate either in the Android version of Firefox.
