When I try to send an e-mail I get asked for my google password, then a request to agree to Thunderbird terms. Never had this before, why now?

When I try to send e-mails from my g-mail account I get asked for my google password. After entering it, I get another box requesting me to agree to Thunderbird to "view, manage and permanently delete your mail in Gmail, Create, update and delete labels.... etc." If I deny the request, my e-mails aren't being sent. Do I really have to agree to continue using Thunderbird?
