I use site counters that use a java code from Bravenet.com. They've stopped working in Firefox. Is there a setting I can change to allow them to work?
Bravenet tells me that java code is different from java script, so the counters should work. But they don't
Chosen solution
I found the culprit. I installed the Duck Duck Go extension. I disabled it, and the counters are back. Not sure why they caused it. So this can be closed.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Clear the cache":
- Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
It doesn't happen until I upload the file to my server at 1&1. I can view the page from my computer with no problem. But I can view the site in another browser on my phone and the counter shows up. It's not my add ons.
And it shows up in MS Edge...
Firefox 42+ has a Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. When you are in private browsing mode then Firefox can show a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar that some content is blocked.
You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences -> Privacy" or via the about:privatebrowsing page that get when you open a New Private Window.
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/control-center-site-privacy-and-security-firefox
You can set this pref to true on the about:config page to see more Tracking Protection choices in "Options/Preferences -> Privacy".
- privacy.trackingprotection.ui.enabled
If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.
- you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily
Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions".
Check "Tools -> Page Info -> Media" for blocked images
- select the first image and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list
- if an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain
You can check these preferences on the about:config page and make sure they have the default value.
- permissions.default.image (1)
- network.http.sendRefererHeader (2)

I never use private browsing. And the other images show up on the pages-- just not the counters.
Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required) or can you post the code you use to show these counters?
