Thunderbird calendar disappeared after upgrade to 52.4.0
After I allowed the upgrade to 54.4, the Calendar is no longer showing on Thunderbird. What's confusing is that if Lighting is packaged with Thunderbird (after V38), I shouldn't have to also add-on Lighting, right?
This is on Windows 7.

Chosen solution
The Provider for Google Calendar add-on may be responsible for the disappearance of Lightning. I would re-install Lightning 5.4 directly from the add-on page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/
Drag the green 'Download for Windows' button and drop it onto the Tools/Add-ons window in TB.

Yup. After reinstalling Lightning, Calendar reappeared in TB. Thanks very much.
I've also updated T-Bird and lost my personal calendar, i.e. with birthdays, etc.
Installed Lightning according to your instructions, and have the calendar but not the personal one.
Can you help me find where all that went?
I was confronted with the same problem today. Amazingly, re-installing thunderbird, lightning and/or all the other add-ons and extensions didn't solve the problem. In the menu, "View -> Calendar -> ..." remained greyed out.
After a while I just clicked the little calendar leaf icon atop the today pane and this immediately opened the calendar tab with all my previously configured calendars. Additionally, the menu option "View -> Calendar" changed from inactive/greyed out to active/black. All calendar functions have been restored.
Was your calendar 'local' or 'cloud' based? If the latter (e.g. Google or Outlook), the initial absence may have been due to the time delay in synchronizing with the online calendar.
Thanks to both of you for your replies. After almost three weeks of silence I was afraid that I was just out of luck.
1. My calendar was evidently default to cloud based. (I didn't set it up either way, just started using it - Unless there was an option that I overlooked.) and things still synced with my wife's computer which is using Win Mail. Since it has been a couple of months with no birthdays, etc. it should have synced by now.
2. As Torakamo said, the view > calendar is greyed out. Not sure where you started before finding and clicking the leaf, but I tried all options I had (I think) with no success. Still no birthdays, etc.
I am having this same issue all of a sudden but I don't even have a grayed out calendar option under 'view'... it's just not there and no sign of my caledar
Delmond go to the add-on tab in Thunderbird, click Extensions, type lightning in the search box and install. If that does not fix your issue start your own thread for your problem with details. This thread is marked solved.
I don't see where it's marked solved but thanks anyway
See the 2nd post marked Chosen Solution? That is solved. Either way forum rules state start your own thread.
