Whenever I open and log into Quora.com in firefox browser it starts using huge percentage of CPU. Why?

I cannot figure out the reason for this, Quora is just a simple website. This is not the case with Microsoft Edge browser. I really like the new Firefox quantum (thanks for the new look) but if this thing is not improved I'll have to switch back to Edge as I did earlier because previous versions of Firefox had this same problem. I visit Quora.com a lot. High CPU usage in my computer doesn't impact the performance much but it does drains my laptop's battery quickly. One more thing, the CPU usage comes back to normal as soon as I minimize Firefox or switch to another tab leaving Quora.com open. I think it would be great if you make Firefox battery friendly as well as CPU friendly. Thank you.

It is suppose to be friendly on release date Nov 14th. You are running a beta. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/

Fyi: I am running 56.0.1 on high end desktop and when went to Quora.com it started using 50megs of ram on me. So ya is not a friendly site.

Do you notice any power sounds from fan or anything rev up in sound ? If do it is possibly mining.

I can't answer your question because my laptop doesn't have a fan but it does start getting hotter if I stay on the page for longer as a result of high CPU usage.

There is not much you can do if a site is using code that takes ram up. Find a Alternative. That is what I do as they do not care about you to allow that. You could try contacting them and see how far you get doing that.

I did scan the site with Virus Total website scan but if it has a small script of code in it to mine bitcoin or something is not found that way. Would have to go through all the code and css pages by hand.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I think you're right, this seem to be a problem with the website as MS edge also starts behaving in the same manner when I browse the website which I didn't notice before. Anyways, thank you.
