On OS X 10.13.3 , Firefox 58.0.2 videos on the NYTimes site don't play; the cursor spins endlessly. The same videos hosted on Youtube play normally.

E.g.,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF7_HS_sihI -- OK

Same video (I think) on the NYtimes site: https://www.nytimes.com/video/science/100000005768876/pelican-spiders-ancient-assassins-that-eat-their-own-kind.html?playlistId=100000002331748

The link to NYT URL above is I think a subscription page as there is a login at page top. Do you have a subscription to the NYT web account ?

More information please.

I do have a subscription -- being logged in does not change behavior for me I checked with Safari -- you do not need to be logged in to play (at least some of ) the videos, e.g,
