I send emails, but can't find them in my send box. I find some when going to "search messages". There are approximately 280 sent messages not in my send box.
I'm unable to tell if an email has been sent. I obtain a response that the email is sent and is being copied to my "sent" folder. It takes quite a long time and times out frequently requiring a retry which sometimes works and sometimes not. When the email appears to be sent, I look in my "sent" folder and don't see it.
My webmail does work.
I went to "search messages" and sometimes I find the sent email, even thou not in the "sent" folder and sometimes not.
I just deleted all but 24 sent emails in my "sent" folder, yet the total at the bottom indicates 313.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using an imap or pop mail account?
If you are using imap, please be aware that deleting emails in Thunderbird will delete those emails off server when synchronisation occurs and they will be unrecoverable. If you do not want this to occur, suggest you get those deleted sent emails back into the 'Sent' folder.
If imap:
- check to see if the 'Sent' folder is Subcribed.
- Right click on imap mail account and select 'Subscribe'
- select the 'Sent' folder and click on 'Subscribe'.
- Click on 'OK'
