How to make New tab be a Blank Black tab in MacOS Mojave instead of white

more options

With the MacOS mojave dark theme, I would like the option to pick that when I open up a new tab, I can pick for it to be a Blank Black Tab instead of the default white.

Come on that would be handy, right?

That probably should be an option, but Firefox tends to run behind on MacOS-specific tweaks so you probably will need a workaround for some time to come.

What I would say is that any very simple fix is going to be crude/rough/incomplete, and you may want to consider more of an overall dark theme approach. Here's an example that attempts to reach to all corners of the browser:

Apparently I spoke out of school: Firefox 62 with the "Default" theme selected should adapt to the Mojave dark system theme. (Other themes don't have that behavior.)

To make sure you are using Firefox's Default theme, you can use the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Themes.

Then on the right side, make sure Default is selected.

Does that help with about:blank or is that something that still needs fixed?

I did see a bug on file that "right-click" context menus are not yet following the dark theme.
