I use windows portable Thunderbird version installed on USB stick for several years and have the accounts' credentials protected with master password. About a year ago I started to share the Thunderbird's profile on that stick between the windows portable version and ubuntu version from official repository. Everything was OK, i.e. I was entering master password on Thunderbird's startup and worked with my e-mail no matter the OS. But some time ago ubuntu Thunderbird version stopped recognize master-protected passwords from that profile, i.e. upon startup I do not see master password request, but see individual password requests for each of my e-mail accounts. For now I just cancel them with 'Esc' button and thus can only read the messages but can not communicate with servers with ubuntu version. At the same time the windows portable version works normal as always.

Ubuntu version is 60.2.1 (64-bit) Windows portable version is 60.5.1 (32-bit)

Please help me continue to share profile between ubuntu and windows portable Thunderbird.

Chosen solution

There is a password issue in recent version of TB when profiles are shared or copied between Windows and Linux, due to the difference between / and \ in path names. If you rename or delete the pkcs11.txt file in the Linux profile folder, while TB is closed, and restart TB, see if the passwords work properly.
